Who is Crystal Sharpe? Is she real or imaginary?
Perhaps she's a little of both. Crystal Sharpe is the pen name created by series co-authors Virginia Cornue and Linda Lombri, both of whom exemplify the "What's Next? generation.
Virginia Cornue, PhD, is an author, award-winning women's rights activist, cultural anthropologist and part-time professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Virginia is the author of The Dragon’s Daughters Return (2007), which chronicled the experiences of middle-school age daughters and their adoptive families returning to visit China; and Draw on Culture: China (2009), an educational activity book. She also wrote and edited the Herbal Amicus three-book series (2013-2014) and co-edited So Much Blood: The Civil War Letters of CSA Private William W. Beard, 1861-1865 (2015), published and available via Amazon.com.
Virginia has headed NOW-NYC and its Service Fund; the Women's Funding Coalition-NYC; and Newark Emergency Services for Families. In 1989, she received the Newark (NJ) Humanitarian Services Award for Families, and in 1998 the Susan B. Anthony Award. She earned a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 2001 in Cultural Anthropology, investigating gender and social changes in post-Mao China.
She lives in Montclair, New Jersey with her daughter who is now a rising senior at Brandeis University.
Linda Lombri is an author, award-winning marketing consultant/business writer, book editor, interior book designer, and home economist.
She's at work onTapestry & Patchwork: A Family History Sampler, a book of essays based on her family's fascinating immigration stories, and a trilogy of how-to guides to navigating the "third-act" years.
Following a career in the corporate arena, she undertook a new direction as an entrepreneur, establishing a communications firm focused on content marketing, sustainability issues and PR/promotion.
Awards: PR Daily's 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Award for Green Environmental Stewardship for Earth Color Inc.'s 2015-2016 Sustainability Report. International Paper's 2008 Sales and Marketing Team Excellence Award for the company's greenchoice™ Environmental Solutions for Packaging program, which she branded and developed.
Linda has a B.A. from CUNY’s Queens College and an M.S. in Design from Drexel University. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey and proudly brags about her daughter who began her career as a financial analyst in Denver last year.
